May 2021
Hello all and welcome to this newsletter for May 2021……
I hope this finds you all well and enjoying some normal life and activities again and although the
weather is now being a little bit slow to improve to what we would expect for this time of year at
least we can use boats again and meet up with friends and family.
As a club we are still moving ahead with our muster plans and as long as nothing changes for the
worse we are on track to be able to get together again for musters this year. To ease us all back in
gently we have planned a cruise / mooring / anchor muster for Saturday 29th May – next weekend!
This is obviously weather dependant as it has been very up and down but I am presently hopeful
that this will go ahead. Although the plans are a bit fluid depending on the wind direction we are
hoping to head towards Millport or Kilchattan Bay where boats will be able to either anchor or pick
up a mooring (depending on where we end up) and another boat can raft alongside where a socially
distanced drinks and catch up can take place! It may also be possible for members to cruise in
company to and from their home marinas. At present this is planned for the afternoon on Saturday
but times will be advised later in the week. To help with planning and ensure everybody is aware of
the plans if you could let me know by email, text or call if you are intending to join us then I can
update you towards the end of the week, I will also post details on the Friends of the Royal Scottish
Motor Yacht Club facebook page.
Also for information next weekend 28th May to 30th May is the Scottish Series yacht racing event in
the Clyde so Marinas and the Firth of Clyde are likely to be busy with yachts racing so please be
aware of this and on Monday 31st May the Tunnocks Flotilla in aid of the RNLI will be taking place,
further details can be found on the website:- www.clyde.org/tunnocks-flotilla-2021/
Looking to next month we have a muster planned for Largs Marina on 25th to 27th June so if I don’t
see you next weekend I hope to see you then! Further details for the Largs muster will be sent in
due course.
I hope to see you next weekend but for those who cannot make it safe sailing and see you soon!
Best regards,
Matthew Hill
