Hi everyone and welcome to the 2025 Spring newsletter, hope you are looking forward to a new boating season as the days are now getting longer.

Winter Lunch
The winter lunch was held at the Inverkip Hotel on the 26^th January with a good turnout and it was great to catch up with everyone again. I am sure that all who attended can agree the food and service provided was excellent.

 

AGM
The AGM was held Tuesday 25^th March at a new venue, The Royal Gourock Yacht Club. Unfortunately, I was unwell and unable to attend and I would like to pass on my thanks to Vice Commodore David Gillies, Rear Commodore John Ewart and Secretary Rita Hollywood for stepping in at the last minute to cover for me. The minutes will be issued in due course.

Trophies
Please note the trophies, detailed below, will again be available for 2025 and it would be good if we got some entries as they have not been awarded for a number of years. We are also open to suggestions regards to changing the criteria for awarding the trophies if anyone has any ideas, please let us know.

Turley Cup
Awarded annually to the member submitting the best log of the past season of the log of a cruise made during the season.  Logs will be judged on presentation and content, including aspects such as passage plan, weather, tide, sea conditions, engine and system checks, times, distances, speeds, fuel management, ie all the elements which should be routinely taken into account for a passage.  There should also be a narrative of the passage (illustrations are optional)

Kennedy Trophy
Awarded annually to the member making the most merit-worthy cruise during the past season with no restrictions on area or duration

Manson Distance Trophy
Awarded annually to the member having travelled the greatest distance either in a single voyage or in the season
