July 2021
Hello all and welcome to this newsletter for July 2021.
Kip muster report
On 25th to 27th June we held a muster at Kip Marina. We had 13 boats / 37 people attend for the muster and we were all berthed in close proximity on G pontoon @ Kip Marina which coupled with the very favourable dry, calm and warm weather allowed for some outdoor socialising between members over the weekend. On the Saturday morning our club Secretary Rita & Norman visited came down to Kip to say hello and introduce themselves to some of the newer members.
On the Saturday afternoon we proceeded up to the Royal Gourock Yacht Club where each boat was shown to a mooring by the RGYC boatman and then ferried ashore to the club in their launch. With the favourable weather we were all able to sit outside on the large balcony overlooking the Clyde where we spent a few hours and enjoyed table service for drinks and food. By 7pm we were heading back to the boats and all heading back to Kip Marina. Rita & Norman attended the RGYC by road to join us for the afternoon.
On the Sunday the weather was really good so most of the boats headed for their home marinas but enjoyed a lovely sunny day on the Clyde in the process.
It was great to have such a good turnout for this muster and I think everyone enjoyed just being able to say hello to each other once again even if it wasn’t quite “back to normal”.
I would like to thank Kip Marina for hosting us and assisting to ensure we were all berthed close together and also for providing a very favourable muster rate for the visiting boats!
The Royal Gourock Yacht Club were very welcoming and catered for us very well. I would like to take this opportunity to remind members that as members of the RSMYC we are welcome to use the RGYC facilities anytime, just call the boatman on 07710434318, he works from 1000-2200 during the summer and will show you to a mooring and then run you to and from the yacht club in the launch. The club was very appreciative of our support particularly as they try to come back from the challenging times we have all been living through.
Next muster
The next muster is planned for 6th to 8th August 2021 at Tarbert, further details for the muster will be sent out in a couple of weeks.
The fancy dress theme for the Tarbert muster will be: “When I grow up I want to be…..”, I hope to see many different ideas based around this theme – some may think back to their childhood dreams and some may still be dreaming for the future!
That is all for now. You will hear from me again in the near future with more information for the Tarbert muster and a booking form if you will be joining us.
Safe sailing and hope to see you soon!
Best regards,
Matthew Hill
