Report from Tarbert Muster – August 2024

Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side for the weekend and of the 20 boats planning to attend only 13 made it to the muster as the wind was gale force on Friday and Saturday. Most boats arrived on the Thursday to beat the wind with a few brave crews arriving Saturday.

The theme for this years fancy dress was “Scottish” which proved to be a bit of a challenge but a great effort was made by all.

Friday night had some crews going for dinner at various restaurants with others gathering in the marquee for informal drinks and chat.

The afternoon consisted of an afternoon tea, bingo and the fancy dress which was won by Autumn Spirit.

We also had a collection for the RNLI which raised over £200.00 and has been donated to Largs Lifeboat Station.

Once crews had changed back to normal attire there was a cook your own BBQ followed by a ceilidh dance with music provided by Loch Dubh Ceilidh Band who were excellent and kept the floor filled all evening.

Sunday morning was breakfast rolls cooked by the flag officers.

Special thanks to Barry Roger and Douglas Atkinson for lending us the BBQs and Ian Telfer for providing the sausages and bacon. After breakfast boats departed for their home port in very pleasant conditions.
