Report from Tarbert Muster and Forthcoming Events
Thank you to all who attended the Tarbert muster, the weather was kind to us and we had 18 club boats over the weekend with 48 club members present. More attendees than foreseen when we had to cancel the caterers due to lack of confirmed numbers close to the time so we reverted to previous formats and had a BBQ on Saturday evening
Friday 3rd August
On Friday afternoon and evening there was much of inter-boat hospitality and in addition we hosted a wine and beer reception of Friday afternoon as boats arrived at the pontoon. Some members had dinner at the Starfish.
Saturday 4th August
Saturday morning we held competition based on the use of a throw line to rescue someone who was overboard or adrift in a dinghy. This was arranged and supervised by Ian and Catherine Anderson. Thank you to the both of them.
The winning boat was Ancaster IV but it was a very competitive close run event with a safety briefing and explanation from Iain Anderson.
Afternoon tea followed in the marquee with a fantastic array of food giving opportunity for members to mingle.
Flag Officers Drinks Reception
Later in the day the flag officers hosted a drinks reception in the marquee for the fancy dress based on the letter ‘W’ with members using their imagination to the maximum. DJ Nick played introductory and background music with the fancy dress flowing over into the BBQ.
Fancy Dress
First Place – David Pearson and John Ewart – The Wallace Twins
Second Place – Ian and Catherine Anderson – The Wurzels
Third Place – The Bryson Team From Ancaster IV – The Ancaster Bombers
The BBQ was organized so that members could bring their own food and leave it with a capable team of volunteer chefs, so thank you to the chefs. This allowed members to continue to relax instead of slaving over the hot coals, well in this case gas!
A great disco followed run by Nick, once again thank you to him and thank you to Fiona for transporting him and all his gear to the event. He certainly makes a difference.
Inter – boat hospitality followed with some members watching the sun come up on Sunday morning
Sunday was a relaxed day with some members leaving and some staying over until the Monday or Tuesday.
Thank you to the flag officers and all members that helped, with a particular thank you to the volunteer BBQ chefs.
A most enjoyable and well supported muster.
